Hmm, this book was a fun, light read. I didn't find it "too PC" (maybe because I am too PC?). Whatever the reason, I accepted the family structure without noticing it, so that wasn't a problem for me. I guess I was hoping for more emotional engagement with the characters, and more understanding about their choices and motivations. I would have given this book only two stars except for one thing: I kept trying to figure out how the book was going to end and I couldn't, until the incident with Father Sullivan which was completely gripping and gave away the ending in such a surprising way that I raced to the finish even though I knew what it would be. Three stars for plot structure!
