Dave Eggers: A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Dave Eggers

At first I really liked Eggers' style, but in the end I agreed with most reviewers that he more or less used his interesting back story as an excuse to try to convince us all how awesome he is — or, more accurately, how sincerely he is striving toward awesomeness. I found the crushing self-consciousness to be suffocating, even though I skipped the introduction. Yet, I didn't hate it, and I finished it in just a few days. So. I don't think I would read more Eggers, but I'm glad I finally read this one. Only sorta kinda recommended?
